The origin of the project MuskCode

—— from team member Jong Xu

Musk is my son's English name. He is now a six-year-old boy who has strong concentration, happy and smart. As a father who works as a computer programmer, I have always expected to teach my son all of my expertise, accompany him to seek career in this world and live a free life.

Shortly after he was born, I started to think about enlightening him with programming education. After comparing and testing a lot of programming education software and courses, I decided to finally teach him by myself considering from a programmer's critical perspective.I chose "Minecraft" as the game background and started my penetrative education by playing the game with him together.

Minecraft is highly recognized among the programmers. Its infinite freedom and the characteristics of sandbox construction are connected to the Lego toys that Musk was obsessed with since childhood. I started playing Minecraft with Musk when he was three years old, so he also enjoyed watching the commentary videos about Minecraft. After playing the games for around one year, he could not only complete simple command operations independently, but also learnt a lot of English words. But what surprised us most was that his Chinese vocabulary has greatly boosted!
It turned out that apart from some simple words taught in kindergarten, Musk learned a lot from watching the TV video (Chinese version) of Minecraft. This has made me think more seriously about the pros and cons of playing Minecraft.

The project positioning of MuskCode

We plan to create a shared and neutral children’s programming learning platform which allows the sharing of any educational views, concepts and learning resources.

The main goal of the platform is to protect the children's interest in learning and stimulate their enthusiasm for learning. The platform will gradually launch a series of auxiliary tools and software to help the children learn programming better, healthier and faster. Our clients also incorporate the parents who are interested in programming. We will provide more convenient and simple tools for parents to acquire programming knowledge and transfer it to their children. The game Minecraft will be integrated into the platform education system as one of the main development tools due to its high level of flexibility and creativity.

All the shared learning resources on this platform are free. However, you may be charged for using the platform tools for business purposes or for using manual services provided by this platform.

The project is still in the research and development stage, and the project plan may be adjusted appropriately.
